DUBAI: Lebanese influencer Lana El-Sahely and designer to the stars Rami Kadi have unveiled a new collection to help support children in their home country.

The fashion collaboration between El-Sahely and the Lebanese-American couturier will see part of the proceeds going to Tamanna, a Lebanese non-profit organization that grants the wishes of children with critical illnesses.

The comfortable holiday collection features hoodies and sweatpants inspired by the traditional colors of the festive season: Burgundy, khaki and off-white. They come in different sizes for children and adults.

“Rami and I came together to create a comfortable piece for you and your little ones,” El-Sahely told her 467,000 followers on Instagram.

“Our idea was to share our wishes and intentions for 2021, hoping it would bring better days for the world. Enjoy wearing it (or) offering it to your beloved ones while supporting this cause as part of the proceeds will go to @tamanna_wishes, to make many children’s dreams come true (sic),” she added.

The campaign pictures that El-Sahely and Kadi shared on Instagram feature one of the influencer’s sons, Zayed, whom she affectionately calls Zaydo.

The mother-and-son duo were photographed in matching outfits from the new collection, including oversized hoodies with subtle embroidery over the heart and on the sleeves and comfy tracksuit pants.

The items are available on El-Sahely’s e-shop, shop.lanaelsahely.com

Kadi, who is known for his unconventional take on high-end sartorial design, took a rather different approach to fashion with this drop, opting for comfort over red carpet-worthy flair.

The designer is no stranger to raising awareness on important issues and was recently named the United Nations Environment Program’s regional goodwill ambassador for sustainable fashion in West Asia.

He is expected to shed light on the harmful impacts of the fashion industry on the environment, and to promote sustainable practices that can be adopted after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kadi, who was born in the US and raised in Lebanon, said in a released statement in November: “I am excited to be a part of such a change and I am looking forward to working with the UN Environment Program in the region.”

He has dressed some of the entertainment industry’s biggest names, including Rita Ora, Jennifer Lopez, Jameela Jamil and many more.

Meanwhile, El-Sahely, a regular at Paris Fashion Week, has taken a particular interest in supporting local businesses in Lebanon throughout the pandemic, and takes to her Instagram Stories daily to promote home-grown fashion, food and design concepts.
