DUBAI: The planet is about to welcome a new Miss World when the competition airs from Puerto Rico on Dec. 16, much to the delight of beauty pageant fans.

The 70th Miss World competition will boast participants from 98 countries, including two Arab potential beauty queens — Maria Farhad from Iraq and Amani Layouni from Tunisia.

Farhad, 20, is currently a second-year student of Computer Sciences and “enjoys listening to Arabic and Classical music and has four birds and two horses as pets,” according to the organization’s official website.

With her personal motto listed as “Stay humble,” the aspiring model also told organizers her favorite film is Disney’s “Maleficent.”

Layouni says her personal motto is “don’t stop until you’re proud,” while Arabic, French, English are listed as the languages the student and interim teacher can speak.

“Her proudest moment was winning Silver Medal in the African Games in Taekwondo. She has won many National and International competitions and is hoping to represent Tunisia in the 2024 Olympic Games,” the website reads.
