DUBAI: Who wears $800 party heels in the middle of a pandemic? Well, everyone it turns out. Jordanian-Romanian designer Amina Muaddi’s vibrant footwear has become ubiquitous in celebrity circles, where stars like Kim Kardashian and Dua Lipa often show off her signature flared pumps. But perhaps no one has an affinity for the 33-year-old’s heels quite like superstar Rihanna does.

The singer-turned-designer has an unparalleled collection of Amina Muaddi heels, which have become her go-to choice of footwear whether she’s attending lavish red carpet events, fundraising galas or taking an off-duty stroll.

The 33-year-old was recently spotted at Los Angeles restaurant Giorgio Baldi and for the occasion donned a pair of Amina Muaddi heels.

The Fenty Beauty founder opted for a pair of Amina Muaddi Ami Croc-Embossed Pumps, which she paired with a light blue matching set from Maisie Wilen and a vintage checkered coat from Chanel’s 1996 collection.

Just a week before that, the self-proclaimed “Bad Gal” raised the bar on quarantine outfits when she stepped out in California dressed in a pair of green sweatpants from Brain Dead, a lace-trimmed black camisole and a fuzzy green-and-white-striped cardigan layered under a shearling-lined brown leather jacket. The superstar accessorized her look with “her new everyday shoe” — according to Muaddi’s Instagram — a pair of white pointed-toe Ursina pumps by the part-Jordanian designer.

Rihanna’s affinity for the brand isn’t lost on the Paris-based designer, who took to Instagram this week to thank the superstar for “Rocking me so consistently.”

According to an interview with British Vogue, Rihanna came by Muaddi’s shoes after her longtime stylist Jahleel Weaver introduced her to early prototypes. “But then she bought a few pairs herself via her personal shopper. She’s such a nice person. She sent me some Fenty clothes when she launched her own label – I feel amazing when I’m wearing them. There’s that swagger, you feel like you are channeling Rihanna,” she stated.

The Paris-based designer would go on to create a collection for Rihanna’s LVMH-backed maison Fenty, which picked up the 2020 FN Achievement Award. Following the sell-out success of the first collection, Rihanna enlisted Muaddi to design yet another collection for Fenty, which dropped in November.
