DUBAI: British singer Jesy Nelson has left girl group Little Mix, saying being part of the pop ensemble had “taken a toll on my mental health.”
“I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard,” the 29-year-old added.
Writing on Instagram, the singer said “I need to spend some time with the people I love, doing things that make me happy.”
Meanwhile, her former bandmates — Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall — said it was “an incredibly sad time for all of us but we are fully supportive of Jesy.”
The announcement comes a month after Nelson said she was taking a break from the pop group for “private medical reasons.”
Nelson’s message was met with an outpouring of support on Instagram, where fellow musicians flooded the comments section with well wishes.
