DUBAI: K-Pop boy band BTS’s outfits worn during the video for their first all-English language single “Dynamite” have been sold for a total of $162,500 at an auction this week.
According to the US-based auction house Julien’s Auctions, the money will benefit non-profit organization MusiCares, a charity that provides health, financial and rehabilitation resources for musicians in times of need.
The money raised was more than eight times the amount expected — according to the auction house’s website, the estimate was $20,000 to $40,000.
Billboard reported that Japanese art collector Yusaku Maezawa and YouTuber HIKAKIN were the buyers.
The pastel-colored outfits were worn by BTS’s RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook during the final dance sequence in the 2020 video clip.
“Dynamite,” which was released in August 2020, has over 820,000,000 views on YouTube alone.
