DUBAI: Part-Palestinian model Bella Hadid teased her mother as she was announced as one of GQ Magazine’s most stylish women in their 2021 list.
The 24-year-old catwalk star was ranked third place for her diverse styles that range from glamorous red carpet gowns to comfortable sweats and tank tops.
US actress and singer Zendaya topped the list while singer Miley Cyrus came in second — and Hadid made sure to celebrate the the former by posting “obvsss” on her Instagram Stories.
A clutch of A-list celebrities followed Hadid on the list, including US actress Zoë Kravitz, singer Janelle Monáe, Australian actress Cate Blanchett, US model Hunter Schafer, British actress Tilda Swinton, British model and activist Adwoa Aboah and US singer Lizzo.
Hadid took to Instagram Stories to jokingly thank the woman behind it all, her mother Yolanda Hadid.
“Thank you for the accolade. I would like to thank my mom for passing down this aggressive shopping addiction and (London-based shopping app) Depop for enabling it. Love you guys,” she wrote.
Despite a lull in red carpet looks this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the US supermodel, who is of Dutch and Palestinian descent, did manage to show off a collection of remarkable street style looks.
In February, she was spotted wearing a pistachio-colored trench coat by Copenhagen-based label Saks Potts, which she paired with green slacks and a white crop top, garnering nods of approval from fashion industry insiders online.
And in March, just before many countries went into lockdown, she stepped out in a faux leather oversized shirt by superstar Rihanna’s Fenty fashion label. She paired it with baggy pants, which seemed to be her go-to outfit option this year, a pink graphic T-shirt, a mini handbag and square-toed boots.
One of her most daring looks was during the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards in August, when she wore a sheer cut-out bodysuit by Albanian designer Nensi Dojaka.
Despite the fashion industry taking a step back from its usually busy roster, Hadid also managed to star in a few campaigns for high-end brands like Chanel, Burberry, Micheal Kors, Versace and more.
